2021-2022 First Generation Academic Scholarship Award

WHAT IT IS?

Funds for students who are first in their family to go to the University or a Career College.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be first in their family to enroll in post-secondary education
  • To qualify for a scholarship as a ‘first generation’ or ‘first scholar’, neither of your parents or siblings:
  • Obtained a certificate or university degree
  • Earned an associate degree or more advanced degree
  • Attained a bachelor’s degree or a more advanced degree
  • Neither parent nor a sibling has ever enrolled in or attended a career college
  • Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5 – 3.7 on a scale of 4.0 or a class rank of the top 5% in your class
  • Total family income of less than Forty thousand
  • Demonstrable Extra Curricular Activities(ECA) like volunteer work and leadership qualities
  • Currently enrolled in 10th to 12th grade (SS1 –SS3)
  • Must earn a 1290 SAT or 29 ACT for First Gen. Scholarship (for International First Gen Students who wish to attend school in United States or other countries outside their home country.
  • Must have four references to verify character, identity and economic status. Two of those references must be the community leader and the High School Principal.

For International Students: The First generation Scholarship is administered through the office of the traditional ruler or community leader.

It is a N250 per year award or N300, 000 if living on campus for the first year only.

If you qualify, you can apply for the Scholarship through the office of the traditional ruler or online at firstsuperstar.com. As the season is closing, you should check online prior to the fall season for the deadline date.

The scholarship is renewable up to a max of 2 semesters. Recipients must be in good standing with their academics performance to renew this scholarship.

WHAT IT IS?

Funds for individuals who are first in their family to learn a skill and  create an income stream.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be first in their family to enroll in post-secondary skill training program
  • To qualify for a scholarship as a ‘first generation entrepreneur, neither of your parents or siblings:
  • Obtained a certificate or university degree
  • Earned an associate degree or more advanced degree
  • Attained a bachelor’s degree or a more advanced degree
  • Employed or currently working a paid salary
  • Neither parent nor a sibling has ever enrolled in or attended a career college
